The Port of Nevada Project is a master-planned industrial complex that will include warehousing, an inland port, storage and related activities. It occupies an approximately 247-acre master project site located at 11000 Reno Highway in Fernley, Nevada. The project is being developed in four phases. Phase 1 and Phase 2 of the project consist of approximately 74 acres of the site. Phase 1 is already complete and operating. Planning for Phase 2 commenced in 2022. The remainder of the site will be developed in future phases of construction which are not included within the scope of this Project.
The plan is to further develop the site as an inland port, which is a logistics and distribution hub located inland from coastal seaports, alleviating some of the pressure on coastal ports by handling the distribution and subsequent transport via ground (truck transport) or rail. The cargo would be stored on site for future use or processed and distributed to its intended destination. The expansion will allow heavy rail shipping and storage on site and provide a direct connection to the major west coast seaports of Oakland, Los Angeles and Long Beach. Goods will be delivered to and from these west coast seaports to the site for unloading and delivery by rail or truck to other locations throughout the country. The plan is also to establish a foreign trade zone at the inland port.
